Barry Uhl is a composer, illustrator, musician, and writer. Born in Redding, California, his travels eventually led him to settle permanently in Seattle, Washington after stints in Aberdeen, Jackson Hole, and Moscow, Idaho.
His creative history includes a degree in Music Composition and Theory from the Lionel Hampton School of Music (University of Idaho), study with two-time Emmy award winner Hummie Mann at the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program, several film scores, music released under his own moniker (Cloud War), and time spent as a member of Damien Jurado’s touring band.
His most recent release is a multi-media project encompassing a book, a series of illustrations, and an album: An Account Of The Happenings At Wretched Knob.
Uhl has collaborated and performed with Battle Hymns, Western States, Bryan John Appleby, Shelby Earl, and Andy Fitts; touring alongside the Heartless Bastards, Peter Wolf Crier, Tom Brosseau, Chad van Gaalen, Deertick, Cass McCombs, The Blakes, and Telekinesis; and has arranged for the Seattle Rock Orchestra and Allen Stone.
“An artist who is far beyond his time, who was discovered long ago by critics, fans, and fellow musicians. Welcome to the now. Sadly, you will always be too late.”
